bpost acquires majority stake in US parcels transporter Landmark Global
Monday 7 January 2013bpost has purchased a majority stake of the stock in US parcel transporter Landmark Global. This gives bpost an even more far-reaching logistical network and customer base for its parcels solutions to and from North America.
Landmark Global is a leading international parcels transporter, chiefly between the United States and Canada. Formed in 2005 by Dave Mays and headquartered in California, Landmark Global has around 75 employees and seven operating hubs in the United States and two in Canada. Turnover in 2012 was around US$ 50 million.
bpost acquired a majority stake in US postal company MSI in 2010 and will place this existing US-based parcels business with Landmark Global.
The partnership with Landmark enables bpost international to further enhance its geographical spread over North America and so offer its customers on three continents (Europe, North America and Asia) an even wider array of international mail and parcels solutions. It also enables bpost to gain an even firmer footing in the fast-growing US e-commerce market.
Peter Somers, member of the bpost executive committee, says: 'This acquisition gives us the opportunity to further strengthen our growth abroad. bpost International has acquired a lot of experience and knowhow in recent years and this step enables us to offer our international e-commerce customers even better distribution and fulfilment solutions.
Current CEO Dave Mays will continue to head up Landmark Global.
