Sustainable fleet bpost expands with electric truck

After bpost only just passed the cape of 2,000 electric delivery vans there is already good news regarding the greening of the fleet. The first electric truck for bpost is a fact; it is a 16-ton Renault Trucks truck that will be used for transport between the Brussels X sorting center and the bpost distribution centers in Brussels. The annual CO2 emissions with this electric truck are 77% lower (8 tons) than with a comparable diesel truck (35 tons). bpost will use this first electric model to evaluate whether this type meets all the requirements for its activities.
bpost's ambition is to minimize the environmental impact of its activities. The company organizes ecozones in central cities, where mail and parcels are delivered completely emission-free to the end customer. Today there are already 15 ecozones, and bpost is rolling out this concept to further green urban logistics. The company is also and increasingly focusing on alternative, more environmentally friendly solutions (electric, LNG, etc.) for efficient mail and parcel transport between its own sites.
With the arrival of this truck, bpost confirms its commitment to drastically reduce CO2 emissions: the company has committed to reduce CO2 emissions in Belgium by 55% by 2030 and by 2040 bpostgroup aims to operate climate-neutral.
