bpost is set to install parcel lockers at 13 new Armonea sites following a successful test at the Gaerveld home in Hasselt last year. The move is part of the ongoing enlargement of the bpost network, which currently comprises more than 3100 pick-up points, including 900 parcel locker sites. Proximity is key here: residential care home residents, staff members and visitors can pick up their parcels from the lockers 24/7, as can people living in the neighbourhood.
First for residential care homes
An analysis of the Hasselt trial shows that at least two in three parcel lockers were used every day, which has prompted bpost and Armonea to take their partnership to the next level.
bpost is now set to install parcel locker units at a further 13 Armonea residential care homes in Flanders and Brussels. The modular character of these units means that capacity can be quickly scaled up. “Installing parcel lockers in our homes is an investment in convenience and proximity, which dovetails perfectly with the needs of our residents, staff and visitors. It is an extra service that simply makes everyone’s life easier,” says Sven Vanwersch, Facility Manager at Armonea.

The parcel lockers will be installed at the entrance to the residential care homes to ensure they can be easily accessed by all users.
“Our parcel lockers are mostly installed at retailers with lots of footfall. By expanding our network in partnership with Armonea we make it even easier for even more people to pick up their parcels in their neighbourhood or workplace. As a socially engaged company, we put a high value on accessibility and proximity for all customers. Parcel lockers in residential care homes is the ideal fit in that regard,” says Kris Stevens, who is responsible for the account managers at bpost.
Driving sustainability
The bpost network currently comprises more than 3100 pick-up points (post offices, post points, parcel points and parcel lockers). By 2027 bpost aims to have a network of 4000 pick-up points.

Additional pick-up options at cycling and walking distance for local residents or, as here, at workplaces, enables multiple parcels to be delivered together. That makes life easier for users and allows bpost to operate more efficiently, while also helping protect the environment, as this more sustainable delivery process generates lower carbon emissions.
