bpost making green rounds in postcode zone 4100 Seraing

Seraing has a proud heritage of steelmaking. Its decline saw it saddled with a legacy of crisis and pollution, but in recent years the town has experienced urban renewal. bpost now brings a touch of green with the announcement of zero-emission deliveries in the postcode zone 4100 Seraing. More than 40,500 inhabitants will receive these sustainable deliveries.

Postcode zone 4100 Seraing is a zero-emission delivery zone. It is no secret that bpost has launched environmentally neutral deliveries in many Belgian towns and cities. bpost achieves this, among other ways, with electric vehicles and a dense network of pick-up points. Now, newspapers, parcels and letters will be delivered to 40,500 inhabitants of Seraing using a fleet of state-of-the-art e-vans.

The 31 postwomen and men will make their rounds in the postcode zone 4100 in sustainable vehicles from the Esplanade de l’Avenir delivery centre. The fleet currently consists of 45 electric vans, but this number will rise over time as the fleet is renewed.

Says Pierre Goosse, Seraing Mail Center Manager : "bpost is acting in a steady but purposeful way for the environment. With regard to the Seraing postcode zone it’s a winning strategy for inhabitants and for our own people. Our postwomen and men make their regular rounds in new quieter, more ecologically friendly electric utility vehicles. This has required slight adjustments and a new approach to driving as we are switching to automatic vehicles. But we are proud to be able to say that we are now driving change!"

All told, then, a Pick-up point no more than 400 metres from all citizens in 4100 Seraing.

Sustainability, yes, but the same quality standards!

bpost wants to reduce its ecological footprint while making fast, efficient deliveries. The company is always looking for ways to improve the sustainability of its logistics processes. With this in mind, Ecozones – zero-emission delivery zones – are a significant solution for delivering parcels in a more ecologically friendly way. Seraing is the latest addition to the list of zero-emission towns and cities in Wallonia, but the same approach has been adopted in Brussels and Flanders. Indeed, today also sees the announcement of a new Ecozone in Ostend in the Flemish Region. In doing so, bpost continues its fight against climate change by focusing on sustainable initiatives, such as green deliveries in a growing number of towns and cities throughout the country.
